Thomas J. Condon ’56

Tom Condon is a graduate of Chaminade High School, Cheviot Hills Campus, Class of 1956 – the school’s third graduating class. While a student, Tom was involved in numerous activities in his junior and senior years – varsity football, basketball, baseball, drama club and intramural championship teams in football and volleyball. He was also Class Treasurer, a functional interest that has carried forward into his business career.

Tom is a graduate of California State University at Los Angeles and has been in the investment industry since 1964. He is currently a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and the Association of Investment Sales Executives and serves on various Boards of Directors including Provident Investment Counsel, PIC’s Mutual Fund, and California Institute of Technology’s Venture Capital Development Company.

He has shared the fruits of his business successes with several Catholic schools. At Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena he has not only served on the Board since 1990 and been Chair of their Finance Committee, but helped lead the planning and the development effort that resulted in the construction of a gymnasium and auditorium on that campus. Recently, he joined the Chaminade Board of Directors where he further acts as a consultant to the Finance Committee on investment issues and is a President’s Circle Platinum-level donor.

In addition to his support of Catholic schools, Tom’s philanthropic focus has made him an important financial supporter of the new downtown Cathedral. Further, he volunteers his time to Cathedral fund-raising activities by soliciting contributions from corporations. Tom’s prominent philanthropy has been recognized through his initiation into the Order of the Knights of Malta. Here, Tom’s current work involves support in the areas of teenage pregnancies, drug rehabilitation and community medical services. He is also working to find solutions in a non-traditional area – the Collaborative Project for Aging Religious.

Today we gratefully honor Tom as a beacon of leadership strengthening the legacy of Catholic education, ensuring the spiritual and corporal needs of our poor are not forgotten and as a true friend. Because of his example of service and philanthropic generosity, the Catholic community is stronger and Chaminade College Preparatory is better able to continue its Marianist mission to serve the educational and spiritual needs of young men and women.
