Distinguished Alumni
Henry Burdick ’60

Henry Burdick is a graduate of Chaminade High School, Class of 1960 – the seventh graduating class from the Cheviot Hills campus. As a student, he was an outstanding leader, fully involved in numerous activities including drama, yearbook, and, most notably, athletics. Football and baseball were Henry’s passions, and while attending college locally, he volunteered as a baseball coach for his Alma Mater, now at its location in Canoga Park. Soon he married his lovely wife, Janne, and the couple settled down in the West San Fernando Valley. In 1971, Henry co-founded Pharmavite, a company on the cutting edge in the field of nutrition and food supplementation which became highly successful.

He and Janne became enthusiastic “Chaminade Parents,” as they sent their three children, Elena ’84, Christina ’86 and Jeff ’90 to Chaminade. With success in business, Henry’s community spirit grew as well, and his affiliation with Chaminade strengthened. He was involved in volunteer support for the school at the highest levels, serving in leadership capacities first in the Athletic Boosters Association and eventually on the school’s board of Directors for five years. The Burdicks were financial sponsors of the annual Fashion Show and Golf Tournament, as well as leading volunteers and contributors to the construction of Marian Hall, the newest classroom structure at the High School. In 1992, they were honored on the school’s Founders Day as outstanding members of the Chaminade community.

Today we gratefully honor Henry as a beacon of leadership to the legacy of Catholic education and as a true friend. Because of his example of service and philanthropic generosity, Chaminade College Preparatory continues in its Marianist mission to serve the educational and spiritual needs of young men and women.
