Distinguished Alumni
Ron Prechtl ’79

Ron is a third generation native Californian born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, now residing in the Conejo Valley.  He and his wife Kathy have two children, Kaitlin (2013) and Andrew (2011), now attending USC.  Ron, also a Chaminade College Preparatory alumnus, graduated in 1979 and began his career in real estate while attending California State University Northridge, graduating the business school with a BS in Real Estate and Marketing.

With over 30 years of real estate business leadership, his vision and expertise in the field of real estate has enabled him to build and grow a large, independently-owned, international franchise real estate sales brand, as well as several other real estate related organizations including escrow, real estate school and a large independent property management firm.  His strategic approach to building a business is reflected in the ranking and success of his real estate organization with over 150 sales associates and staff members.  The sales office is recognized by Century 21 corporate as the highest production office in the Century system within the San Fernando Valley, and one of the top ten offices in Southern California.

"I see to it that our company also gives back to the community we serve through the MEND program," Ron stated, as he talked about the outreach that his Century 21 office continues every year by adopting and providing for families that are less fortunate in the community.  This past year, Ron organized an auction within his company that raised funds to provide for the adopted families in the community.  As a result of Ron's leadership and guidance, his company also continues to be one of the largest Southern California Century 21 office contributors to Easter Seals, through their ongoing fundraising programs.

Ron consistently remains involved in volunteer support for Chaminade at the highest levels, serving in leadership capacities as a member of the Chaminade Board of Directors from 2006 to the present, and as the Chairman of the Board from 2009-2011.  He currently chairs the Land Acquisition Committee and serves on the Advancement and Mission Integration Committees.

Ron's community involvement extends to Boy Scouts, where as an Eagle Scout himself, he serves as a merit badge adviser working with the Boy Scouts to earn their merit badges.  He is an active member of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church community and their Men's Club and he serves on the advisory board for the Ventura County Habitat to The Max for Humanity.

Ron enjoys his leisure time traveling, skiing, ocean kayaking, biking and hiking with his family.

Today we gratefully honor Ron as a beacon of leadership strengthening the legacy of Catholic education and as a true friend.  Because of his example of service and philanthropic generosity, the Catholic community is stronger and Chaminade College Preparatory is better able to continue its Marianist mission to serve the educational and spiritual needs of young men and women.  We are proud to name Ronald M. Prechtl "2012 Chaminade Distinguished Alumnus of the Year."
