We are excited to begin our school year in a few short weeks. We invite all middle school students to participate in our C-Notes Choir. The C-Notes is a non-auditioned middle school choir open to boys and girls in six, seventh and eighth grade. Students are given opportunities to express their individual musical talents, and develop life skills that result in confident and expressive singing. Students learn proper vocal reading technique, music reading, and perform a wide variety of song repertoire. Over the years, the C-Notes have proudly represented the Chaminade family and performed three times as the solo feature choir at Carnegie Hall, Chaminade University in Hawaii; the Heritage Choral Festival in San Diego, the Louisville High School Choral Festival and other events such as the America Sings Festival in Washington D.C. This year, we will be hosting a Virutal Concert on December 5. Click here for our video with more information.
C-Note rehearsals on ZOOM will start Monday Aug. 17. Rehearsals will continue each Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm.
The C-Notes performances include Chaminade Open House, Christmas Concert at the HS Tutor Center, Carondelet Center concert at Mt. St. Mary’s College, and Spring Concert at the MS. This choir competes each year in an adjudicated choral festival and has consistently earned a “Gold” ranking in the middle school concert choir division. The C-Notes have had the distinct honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 and were selected by audition to be the “feature choir” in the National Youth Festival at Carnegie Hall in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
Students are given opportunities to audition for solos throughout the year and are also expected to maintain good attendance, have a positive attitude and joy for singing, and serve as representatives of our school and its choir program.
