List of 15 frequently asked questions.

• When is the application due?

  Both the financial aid application (if applying for aid) and the admissions application are due January 12, 2024.

• When are the checklist supporting documents due?

  Friday, January 26, 2024.

• What is a supporting document?

  Supporting documents are the student questionnaire and essay, principal and teacher recommendation, transcript, and Character Skills Snapshot results.

• Can my child type the answers to the student questionnaire and essay?

  No, please print or handwrite in pen.

• If my child needs additional space to write more information in the questionnaire and essay, can they move to a separate piece of paper?

  Yes.

• How do I register for the Character Skills Snapshot?

  1. Create an account at SSAT.org.
  2. Register for the Character Skills Snapshot test and purchase the test for $60.
  3. Once a student is registered for The Snapshot test, parents must consent to allow their children to access the assessment.
  4. To take The Snapshot, the student logs into their account, agrees to the Integrity Statement, then proceeds.

• How do I obtain my child’s results from the Character Skills Snapshot? Are they directly sent to Chaminade?

  No, they are not directly sent to Chaminade. You must log back in to SSAT.org and click to download the report. Then, you will need to upload the results back into your child’s checklist.

• Are there merit scholarship opportunities?

  Yes, all applicants will receive instructions about how to apply for a merit scholarship via email. Instructions will be sent after the January 12, 2024, deadline. This opportunity is for those who meet our application deadline.

• Does my child need an English and Math recommendation?

  No, we require either one Math, or one English teacher recommendation from their current school, for each applicant.

• When do we request the transcripts from my child’s school?

  You may make the request through your child’s checklist portal at any time after submitting the application. Our request requires that the first semester/trimester grades are to be sent from the current school year. The office staff at your child’s current school will know to upload this part of our requirement.

• What do applicants include in the supplemental items section?

  Use of this feature is optional. Many families will upload secondary recommendations, test scores, awards, or other accomplishments they want to show the admissions committee.

• What qualifies my child to attend Chaminade?

  We look at a wide array of measures in determining whether a student is qualified and prepared to attend Chaminade. We look at each child’s grades, standardized test scores, and results from the SSAT, if they choose to take it. We also take into consideration the information from the student interview, report card comments, and recommendation forms. We are looking for a good student who is also a good citizen.

• What entrance exam do you use?

  For the 2024-2025 school year, Chaminade is not requiring students to take an entrance exam.  If you have taken an exam elsewhere, we will accept those scores as a supplement to the application process.  You may submit those scores to the school via email.

• When and how will we be notified of the decision?

  Acceptance letters and an email will go out on March 1, 2024, welcoming students to the Chaminade family! Students will receive an acceptance packet in the mail in the ensuing days.

• Do you offer financial aid?
