8th Grade Graduation Information

Any questions or concerns about graduation events can be sent to the email address – msgraduation@chaminade.org. The Graduation Ceremony and Mass will be on the lawn at the Chatsworth campus. Gates will open at 4:30 pm.

Graduating students must be at school at 5:00 p.m. in cap and gown. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6 pm and end at approximately 7:45 pm.

  • Seating and Parking Instructions 

    • The road immediately west of the seating area is a drop-off zone only. Parking in this area is NOT permitted.
    • Parking will be available using the entrance gate closest to the gym to park on the field.  Additional parking can be found on the street.
    • Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There is no assigned seating or reservations permitted.  There is no limit of guests for each graduate or tickets required to attend the graduation.  
    • There will be handicapped parking for those holding official handicapped placards available first-come, first-serve down by the gym.
    • Those needing special accessible seating must complete the google form HERE no later than Friday, May 17. There will be a designated section for those needing accommodations. After completing the form, we will send details to those families separately. 
  • Photo Information

    • Photographers from White’s Studios will take a photo of each graduate as they receive their diploma. Photos taken by White’s Studios will be available for viewing online and may be ordered directly through White’s Studios.

    • During the ceremony, we ask families to remain seated. Photography and video are permitted. However, we ask guests not to interfere with or obstruct the experience of our community by moving around throughout the program.  
    • Families can still purchase their student's graduation portraits taken earlier this year using the link HERE.
  • Miscellaneous 

    • Balloons are allowed, but as a courtesy, please be sure they do not obstruct anyone’s view.
    • In early June, diplomas, certificates, and official programs will be mailed to all families.  
    • Water stations will be available for all spectators during the event. We will provide all graduates with a water bottle located underneath their seats.  
    • Restrooms will be available in the 200 building located next to the ceremony. Please follow the signage.  
    • After the graduation ceremony concludes, we ask all families to exit our campus promptly.
    • We respectfully ask that guests do not bring confetti canons or blow horns to the event. In order to support your graduates, signs with your graduate’s name and balloons are appropriate for the event.
    • During the ceremony, students earning a GPA of 3.7 or higher will be acknowledged.  All students will be notified the week of May 13 in x-block if they fall into this group.
  • Dress Code for Graduation and Special Events

    Special occasions require the following special dress code to be observed by all students:
     
    • Long slacks – uniform or dress slacks are acceptable (NO baggy pants). If uniform pants are worn, they need to be freshly washed and pressed to appear to be a dress slack. A belt, collared dress shirt (long or short sleeve), tie (appropriate and tasteful for this occasion - appropriate bow ties are acceptable).
    • Dress shoes are recommended; however clean school sneakers are also permitted if the student does not own dress shoes.  NO flip flops allowed.
    • An appropriate dress or skirt and blouse, and dress pants are acceptable.
    • Spaghetti strap dresses may be worn only if worn with a jacket, blouse, or cap and gown (graduation ceremony only).  Beach-type sundresses or tops MAY NOT be worn. Dresses should be tasteful and modest.
    • Jeans, culottes, and shorts are NOT appropriate for this special event.
    • Parents should also follow the same guidelines for skirt length as required for uniform skirts.
  • Dinner Dance Details

    • The Dinner Dance is scheduled on Wednesday, May 29, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
    • The Dinner Dance takes place at the Porter Valley Country Club. (19216 Singing Hills Drive Northridge, CA 91326)
    • The cost is $65 per student. The evening includes dinner/dessert for all guests, music, dancing, and a photo booth.
    • Payment and permission slip for the Dinner Dance are due Friday, May 17. Both are completed using our online system formstack here (The link will be active in the next few weeks).
    • NO outside friends or parents are permitted to attend.  
    • Marianist Educators will serve as chaperones to provide supervision throughout the evening.
    • Limos are NOT allowed. If you arrive in a limo, you will be sent home. Please pick up students promptly at 9:00 p.m. 
    • The Dinner Dance is optional; however, we encourage the graduates to attend this important event. The Eighth Grade Dinner Dance gives the graduates an opportunity to come together as a class and celebrate their graduation.  We hope this evening will provide them with many fond memories.
