On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Chaminade College Preparatory broke ground on a $66 million Campus Transformation Project, marking the start of one of the largest capital investments in the school’s nearly 75-year history. The project will transform and expand the West Hills campus with new athletic facilities on a neighboring 4.8-acre property, a pedestrian bridge connecting the school’s North and South campuses, a two-story Welcome and Student Services Center, the Advancement and Alumni Center, and a new college-style student quad, creating a safer, more connected, and student-centered campus. Construction will start this school year and allow Chaminade to remain fully operational throughout the multi-phase project, which is expected to be completed in 2030.
Beyond its impact on students, the project reflects Chaminade's ongoing investment in the West Hills community and the neighborhood it has proudly called home for more than 60 years.
Councilmember John Lee, who represents Los Angeles City Council District 12, praised the investment and its positive impact on the community. “Chaminade has been an important part of the West Hills community, and this project represents a significant investment in both Chaminade students and the broader West Hills community,” said Lee. “I am pleased to support a project that enhances safety and will benefit students, families, and our community.”
The groundbreaking follows years of thoughtful planning, community engagement, and collaboration with city officials, neighbors, parents, alumni, employees, and students who helped shape and support the project.
“The Campus Transformation Project represents more than new buildings and facilities,” said Robert S. Webb, president of Chaminade College Preparatory. “It reflects our unwavering investment in our students and our commitment to ensuring Chaminade continues to thrive for generations to come. Every element of this project was thoughtfully designed to support the growth and success of our students while advancing our Marianist mission of preparing young people to love, learn, and lead.”

A New 4.8-Acre Home for Chaminade Baseball and Athletic Practice Fields
The new athletic facilities will be constructed on the adjacent 4.8-acre site of a former shopping center at 23211-23233 Saticoy Street, which Chaminade acquired in 2018 as part of its long-term vision for the future of the West Hills campus. According to Webb, the acquisition represented “a rare find for our school community” to expand the school’s footprint and develop facilities that support educational, athletic, and extracurricular experiences at the highest level.
A key feature of the project is a regulation-size baseball field set within a distinctive “below-grade” stadium with grandstand seating, concessions, and adjacent parking. This design has several advantages - a lower overall height, noise containment, and easier entry. Designed with a synthetic turf playing surface, the baseball and athletic field will serve as the home of Chaminade baseball and will also accommodate practices for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and other field sports.
With baseball’s move to this new stadium, the girls’ softball team will be able to return to campus and make the current, existing field their home base. The versatile facility will support the continued growth of Chaminade’s athletic program while providing student-athletes with a premier environment in which to train, compete, and excel. Chaminade will break ground on the new athletic facilities in the fall of 2026, and it is expected to be completed by 2028.

Creating a Safer, More Connected Campus
A new pedestrian bridge across Saticoy Street will connect Chaminade’s North and South campuses, providing a safer pathway for students and alleviating traffic congestion in the neighborhood.
Together, the pedestrian bridge and the Fritz B. Burns Welcome and Student Services Center will create a more secure and unified campus by establishing a central point of entry for students, families, and visitors. The new arrival process will strengthen campus security while providing a welcoming and organized experience.
Serving as the new front door to Chaminade’s West Hills campus, the center, made possible by a generous $3 million grant from the Fritz B. Burns Foundation, will house administration, counseling, student support services, a wellness center, library, classrooms, and meeting spaces in one centralized location. The new center also creates opportunities to bring academic, faith formation, and student life programs closer to the heart of the high school.
Design and Construction
The design of the Campus Transformation Project was led by CannonDesign, an internationally recognized architecture and engineering firm known for designing innovative educational environments.
Construction of the athletic facilities, bridge, and student services building will be led by MATT Construction, a Southern California builder with extensive experience delivering educational and institutional projects. Dome Construction is partnered with Chaminade on the development of the Advancement and Alumni Center.
The Campus Transformation Project is made possible in part through Chaminade's Soaring to New Heights capital campaign, which brought donors to invest in facilities that will strengthen the Chaminade experience and advance its mission.
