Grades Six to Eight - Summer Ste[+a]m


Demand for STEM careers shows no signs of slowing down. For students to become tomorrow’s STEM leaders, they need to experience STEM first. At the core of each of STEMscope’sTM STEM solutions is hands-on, inquiry-based investigation that helps students become tomorrow’s STEM leaders and innovators by letting them experience science. As students dive into the investigations found in each scope, they develop their own contexts and meanings for the scientific concepts they are learning, retain more knowledge, and develop deeper understandings of the world around them. Each STEMscopeTM module engages students in cross-disciplinary activities that spark a lifelong love of learning and build knowledge and skills in areas including computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. In addition, each module empowers students to develop essential skills such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance. The curriculum is different each week, so there’s no repetition!  Come for one week, or all five weeks this summer!Each week students in the Summer Steam Academy will take three classes combining the STEMscopesTM curriculum in either physical science, life science, or earth and space science with arts, robotics, coding, and math.


  • $165 per week ½ day 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., or combine with afternoon camp from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.

STEMscopesTM Entering 1st-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade

Students in STEMscopesTM will engage each week in a series of activities that build upon each other, students are challenged to become confident in trying new things, to learn from mistakes, and to apply what they know to find solutions. STEMScopesTM is aligned to Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core State Standards for Math and English Language Arts, and other national and state standards. The curriculum is different each week, so there’s no repetition!  Come for one week, or all five weeks this summer!


LEGO ROBOTICS Entering 1st – 3rd grade and 4th – 8th grade

Become the next generation of robotics engineers and explore the universe. Learn about roboticsin a hands-on course for students interested in engineering. Autonomous robots with a programming component and remote controlledrobots will be constructed and used. Classes are separated by grade level.

INTRODUCTION TO CODING Entering 1st – 3rd grade and 4th – 8th grade

Learn sequential thinking, logical reasoning and coding concepts all while playing games and having fun with an Ozobot! Ozobot takes kids ona fun and mesmerizing experience introducingcoding through creative drawing, problem solvingand group challenges by coloring code commandsin the form of basic color combinations.

YOUR AMAZING BODY Grades 1-3 and 4-8

Learn all about how your body works in this exciting and interactive class that explores how your body moves, learns, and grows!

This fun and active class focuses on the basic concepts to prevent sports injuries and increase athletic performance, including stretching,conditioning, and good nutrition.

BEGINNING PIANO Entering 4th – 8th grade

Learn to play the piano this summer! Class begins with 10 finger patterns, progressing tointermediate right and left hand simultaneousplaying.  This class also features familiarclassic songs.  Students will complete rhythm exercises along with written notes and key identity. Each child has access to individua lkeyboards with headphones. All Materials areprovided- one book for use during the class and one book to take home at the end of the session.

MODERN ART Entering 4th -6th Grade

Learn about artists who use abstraction to emphasizethe importance of feelings and ideas, rather thantrying to capture a realistic scene. Students drawabstract animals, sculpt wire into action figures, andstencil organic shapes while exploring the work ofmodern artists.

FRACTION ACTION Entering 4th – 8th grade

Fractions are everywhere and this class will notonly find them, but also focus on understandingthe underlying concepts that must be masteredbefore working with fractions.


Computer keyboarding focuses on thefundamental skills of touch-typing. Emphasis ison correct technique as well as the developmentof accuracy and speed. This course will assist allstudents in developing their touch-type skills.
