Mathew Troupe began his high school career at Granada Hills High School where he pitched a four-hit shutout as a freshman at Dodger Stadium in the City Selection Invitational, earned First Team All-West Valley League in 2008 and received recognition as the Daily News Newcomer of the Year. After transferring to Chaminade, he earned 3 varsity letters on the baseball team at Chaminade under coach Frank Mutz. He registered a 5-2 record and a 1.00 ERA as a senior where he struck out 91, allowed just 19 walks, limited opponents to a .157 batting average in 56 innings, hit .358 with a home run and nine doubles. He also had five double-digit strikeout performances & tallied 20 strikeouts in nine innings pitched over two games in same week as a senior.

Mathew earned 2011 Rawlings First Team All-American recognition, was Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention honoree in 2009 and 2010, Max Preps Underclass All-American in 2009, was selected to the 2010 Area Code Games, All-CIF Division 2 Second Team in 2011 and named to First Team All-Mission League in 2010 and 2011.

Mathew was selected by the New York Yankees with the 539th overall pick in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft, however he chose to continue his education as a Scholar-Athlete at the University of Arizona.

A four-year member of the UofA baseball program under Hall of Fame Head Coach Andy Lopez, Mathew emerged as the team's closer throughout much of his freshman season. Earned two victories in the 2012 College World Series closing out the first game in extra Innings against Florida State and also closing out the final game of the National Championship against South Carolina, helping the Wildcats capture the 2012 National Title. He finished his career with a 12-1 record and 15 saves while striking out 93 through 74 Innings pitched.While at UofA, Mathew made the Dean’s List, was chosen to be the university’s male representative at the National Student Athlete Advisory Committee Conference in Dallas, TX, and was awarded the State Farm Good Neighbor Award in 2013. 

Mathew also spent two summers playing for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Collegiate Summer League in 2012 and 2013. In 2013 he earned Cape Cod All Star recognition and received the Manny Robello 10th man of the year award.

After graduating with a BS in Agricultural Business and Economics from UofA, he transferred to California State University Northridge where he began his master’s degree in Sports Management. While at CSUN he assumed a player-coach role for the baseball team in 2016, receiving the Lyman Bostock Team Award.

In 2016 Mathew served as Bench Coach for the Walla Walla Sweets in the West Coast League under Manager Frank Mutz. In 2017, he joined the Emory University Baseball Coaching Staff as the Pitching Coach where he helped Emory to a 27-14 record and a berth to the NCAA Tournament. While there he guided sophomore Billy Dimlow to one of the finest pitching seasons in program history, earning Billy First Team All-America recognition and Pitcher of the Year honors. In the summer of 2018 he became the Pitching Coach for the Arroyo Seco Saints in the California Collegiate League where he was instrumental in helping one of his pitchers sign an MLB contract as an undrafted free agent.

Mathew is currently the Director of Baseball Operations and Player Development at the University of San Diego under Head Coach Rich Hill for the 2018-2019 season. Mathew will return to the Cape Code Collegiate League in summer 2019 as Pitching Coach for the Orleans Firebirds.
