ATHLETICS

Attention baseball players: There is a mandatory meeting for all returning players on Friday at 2:15pm in the baseball team room.

Congratulations to senior Cory Perkins who has been named a high school All-American for lacrosse.

SENIOR EXAMS:

Senior exams begin on Tuesday, June 3.  The schedule is as follows:

Blocks G & E

If you do NOT have exams during these blocks, you do not need to attend school.  If you have an exam in only one of those blocks, you DO NOT need to sign in or out.  The guards will ask for your student ID when you want to leave campus on those days.  No ID’s?  You may not be able to leave.

If you have any questions about the schedule, stop by Mrs. Tweedy’s office.

Senior Dress for exams:  this means your senior clothing with jeans that are NOT frayed, have holes or short, shorts.  Out of dress code?  There are still times for a special senior detention.

SENIORS

Any senior who was not able to attend the senior breakfast please stop by the Activities office to pick up your senior gifts.  Also, the senior panoramic picture is now available for those who ordered it in the Activities Office.

YEARBOOKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SALE!

The 2008 Aerie is available for pick up or purchase in the Bob Hope Student Center during 2nd lunch and after school.  This year's book is the best yet, so be sure to get your copy!  Books are $95 each and checks should be made payable to Chaminade.

ALL STUDENTS 6/6

Used book buy backs will take place on campus in room 216 on June 12th.  You can get at least 40%, sometimes more, of the value of used books that Chaminade will require for next year.  Seniors: remember to come back to campus for the buyback between and 9am and 9:30am if you want to miss the underclassman crowd.  If you can not make the book buy back you can go to www.varsitybooks.com and send used books back to Varsity for cash.  Look for flyers around campus.

ALL STUDENTS 6/6

The Final Exam Schedule will be posted on the Chaminade Website with a link from the homepage beginning Friday, June 6th.  It will also be posted in major locations on campus (the library, the dean’s office, campus ministry, the student store, the Main Office back door.) beginning Friday.  Students are strongly urged not to wait until the morning of exams to find out where they need to report.

All STUDENTS 6/13

For any student who misses a regularly-scheduled Final Exam next week – Our make-up finals will be given on Friday, June 13th promptly at 8:00 a.m.  Students should report to the Main Office at 7:45 a.m. where their proctor will direct them to the make up exam location   Students are required to present a doctor’s note or a dean’s office clearance to be eligible to take missed exams at that time.

RETREATS FOR ALL STUDENTS

You’re about to go on vacation for the summer (woo-hoo!) and what better time to plan your RETREAT for next school year?!  Our 2008-2009 retreat dates have been set and are being released to you in religion classes Thursday and Friday. The retreat web site is up and ready to receive your registration right away! Don’t wait! Get on a retreat roster right away and get 10% off the cost.  See us in Campus Ministry if you have any questions.

Full company meeting of cast and tech crew of AS YOU LIKE IT is postponed to Monday, June 9 at 3:15pm in FA3.

MANDATORY!  The meeting will be over by 3:45pm.  See you there!

STUDENT LITERARY MAGAZINE 6/6

Frayed will be passed on June 12th before the underclassmen English final. Seniors, you can pick up a copy of the magazine at book buybacks June 12th from 9:00-11:30 in room 216. If you are a senior who is either an editor and/or published in the magazine, a copy will be mailed to you.

ATTENTION AMBASSADORS: 6/5

Ambassadors who signed up to work at Graduation must attend a mandatory meeting in the Admissions Office on Thursday, June 5th after school at 3:10pm.  Please arrive promptly.

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! For students AND faculty:   All cameras and tripods must be turned in to Paula LaBrot immediately.  All cameras and tripods MUST BE TURNED IN TO PAULA LABROT IMMEDIATELY!  Thank you.

JUNIORS

Your senior year is just around the corner and your newly elected class officers have already begun working on planning your school year.  They have decided to give you the opportunity to design some of the senior clothing.  If you are creative we encourage you to enter a drawing, or graphic design for the senior t-shirts or sweatshirt for next year.  All submissions must be turned into Miss La Belle in the Activities Office by June 5th.  See one of your officers or Miss La belle with any questions.

FALL SEMESTER COLLEGE TOUR 6/6

This coming November there will be another Northeast College Tour open to next year’s seniors and juniors.  In order to get the best prices on airline flights and hotels we have made reservations early.  There 30 spaces open on the tour and participation is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration packets are available in the Guidance Office now, and deposits must be made to hold your spot.  For more information, stop by to talk with one of the college counselors or Mrs. Valentine.

Community Service: 6/5

·         Need a chance for 2-3 hours of service to Chaminade on campus?  See Mr. Redondo in 601 for a service opportunity filing community service forms.

·         Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8:  Thousand Oaks Art Walk 08; many shifts available.

·         The Calendar Deadline for 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade community service hours has now passed and we are currently in the grace period.

·         The “grace period” for turning in community service forms without penalty is Thursday, June 12.  From June 13 on, forms for this year’s community service hours must be accompanied by the $50.00 summer processing fee.

·         Community Service records are now available for examination in the front office and in room 601.  Please check your record for accuracy.

Summer Community Service Opportunities: 6/5

·         Saturday, June 14:  Motion Picture Hospital volunteer orientation meeting for summer volunteer work; 9-11 a.m.; must be 14 or older.

·         Monday, July 28-Friday, August 1:  SonWorld Vacation Bible School at St. Mel’s Catholic Church.  Get an information flyer from Mr. Redondo in 601.

Senior Community Service:

·         The list of Seniors who are incomplete on community service is now posted on the central hallway bulletin board.  Please check the list and see Mr. Redondo immediately with questions.

·         The absolute deadline for Seniors to turn in community service forms in order to receive their diplomas at graduation is Thursday, June 5.  Forms will be not be accepted at the Baccalaureate Mass or before graduation.
