“Introducing Danielle Duckett, the new choral teacher! Danielle is very excited to work with any student interested in singing with the choir! Working with numerous choirs over the years, including the San Francisco State Women’s, Chamber, and University choruses, as well as the National Youth Choir of Scotland, and the all camp choir at Cazadero Performing Arts Camp, she’s looking forward to growing the choir program here at Chaminade. Visit her website for more information: www.danielledidonato.net
Announcement: The X-Block chorus, also known as Harmony Chorus, is looking for voices! If you’d like to participate, please come to an informational meeting on Monday, August 22nd at 2:30PM in the Chorus Room (TC- 103). There, you’ll get the chance to meet Mrs. Duckett personally, talk about the things the chorus will be doing this year, and enjoy some sweet treats and refreshing drinks! Even if you’re unsure, come along, bring a friend, and see what choir is all about! All are welcome – the more the merrier!!”
The Chaminade Fine Arts Department, using facilities and technology aligned with industry standards, presents finely tuned programs that speak to real world experiences.Taught in the Marianist traditions, these programs inspire self-confidence, develop critical life and work skills, expose the students to a range of cultures and points of view, and help energize the school environment.
The Chaminade Fine Arts Department is in alignment with Ernest Boyer (past president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching) when he states:"The arts are one of mankind's most visual and essential forms of language, and if we do not educate our children in the symbol system called the arts, we will lose not only our culture and civility, but our humanity as well."
We also espouse the findings of Daniel H. Pink as stated in his "A Whole New Mind": "Today the defining skills of the previous era - the "left brain" capabilities that powered the "Information Age"- are necessary but no longer sufficient. The capabilities that we once disdained or thought frivolous -the "right brain" qualities ... increasingly will determine who flourishes and who flounders... More Americans today work in arts, entertainment, and design than lawyers, accountants, and auditors.”
Chaminade graduation requirements: 10 credits in one of the basic courses of Chorus, Dance, Drama, Film, Instrumental Music, Music Appreciation, or Studio Art.
