High School Counseling
SCHEDULE CHANGE INFORMATION
Schedule changes WILL NOT be made for teacher preference
Schedule changes for second semester will run from Wednesday, December 14th, to Friday, December 16th, and again during the first cycle of the second semester. Students should sign up on their Counselor’s door to make an appointment for a schedule change on those days.
If a student is planning on dropping a yearlong class, please note that a form must be filled out, signed by a parent, and returned to the Counseling Office in order for that change to be made.
For any schedule changes made beyond the first 6 days of the second semester, please note our school’s withdraw policy in regard to how these changes are noted on the school’s transcript:
W – Indicates that a student attempted the class past the add/drop deadline, but withdrew prior to the 6th week of the course. No grade is recorded and there is no negative effect on the Grade Point Average. Colleges may require an explanation for a course withdrawal.
W/Fail – Indicates that the student withdrew from the course after the 6th week. This notation carries with it the same effect as an “F” grade and has a negative impact on the GPA.

The Counseling Department's goals and objectives are to provide needed services to all students and to utilize community resources in helping students solve problems, further their education, and make realistic plans for the future. This is done through individual and small group counseling. Each student should have a minimum of one counseling session during each semester, but counselors are available to students and parents as often as necessary.
