Ballet for Aerial Dance and Musical Theater with Nancy Dobbs Owen

Attention aspiring dancers, actors,and aerialists!Don’t miss your chance to enroll in this exciting Master Class starting in October! Space is very limited, so don’t wait to register.Starting ballet later in youth is not impossible, but finding classes that do not lump middle and high school students in with elementary is difficult. The Chaminade dance and aerial programs are here to help!

Master Teacher Nancy Dobbs Owen is coming to Chaminade again this fall to offer our students interested in ballet, and the ballet lines required for aerial here at Chaminade, a specially designed curriculum. Nancy has performed throughout the United States, beginning as an apprentice with the Joffrey ballet prior to dancing with numerous ballet and modern companies on both coasts. Her musical theater career began as a ballerina and Meg cover in the National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. She has since performed in countless regional theater productions, numerous independent films, several national commercials and various web series and music videos. While continuing to perform, she has evolved into a prolific choreographer and director who works throughout LA in theater, film, and music video.

Ballet for Aerial and Theater

For students in grades 6 through adult

Dates: October 10 -November 14

Monday evenings for 5 weeks

Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Location: West Hills campus

Fee: $150 Includes registration fee(Min of 10 students per class)

Nancy Dobbs Owen is a member of the ballet faculty at AMDA, teaches upper level ballet classes at the Performing Arts Center Van Nuys and is also a faculty member at Gabriella Charter School. Nancy holds a BA from UC Irvine. She completed the Teacher Artist Training Program through the Music Center in 2010 and participated in the 2011 Directors Lab West at the Pasadena Playhouse.A proud member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA and an associate member of SDC. www.nancydobbsowen.com


As the summer begins, The Center for Excellence at Chaminade is shifting gears to present a select number of learning experiences for new and visiting students. Our easy online registration process is just a click away from classes in both Chatsworth and West Hills. In addition to our outstanding Sports Camps and Summer Academies, the Center is also pleased to offer specialty programs for students in grades 1-12.

Summer 2017 Featured Programs for High School Students:


The demands of a college preparatory high school can be very challenging to freshmen studentswho are learning about their new campus, meeting new people, and juggling demandingcourses and extracurricular activities. But the challenge can be overcome. This summer sessioncourse offers students the tools they need to succeed. Students will acquire important skillsincluding time management, library research, organization, note taking, listening, critical thinkingand writing. They will also familiarize themselves with the Chaminade block schedule and campus.


COMPUTER LITERACY BOOTCAMP Entering 9th – 12th grade

In this 5-day workshop, entering students will have the opportunity to further develop the skillsthey were exposed to in the initial computer distribution boot camp. Students will cover aspectsof the technology program that will enhance their success at Chaminade. The workshop willfocus on developing essential computer literacy skills such as typing, file management andMicrosoft Office applications. Additionally, students will have an opportunity to interfacewith programs used at the school such as the learning management systems Blackboardand DyKnow. Special instruction will be given on formatting proper emails and usingthe library resources effectively. COLLEGE APPLICATION BOOT CAMP Entering 12th grade / Open to Chaminade Students Only

Members of the Chaminade Class of 2015 are invited to reduce the stress over the collegeapplication process by joining Chaminade college counselors and English teachers at theApplication Boot Camp. Students will brainstorm essay ideas and craft a memorable applicationessay along with working on the UC and Common Application essay prompts. By the conclusionof the workshop you will learn about the different types of college applications, you should havecompleted your first Common Application and be familiarwith college supplements.Instructor(s): Chaminade College Counselors and English Teachers.
