Prerequisites: Basic skills of file and disk management and knowledge of MS-Word 97.
Create your personal folder inside the WebUpdates network folder and name it with your user name.
Start Word and create a new document or open an existing document.
Enter, edit and format your text.
Add pictures, backgrounds and any other page elements you need.
Save the page as HTML inside your personal folder and name it Start.htm. This is your first portal or home page.
Create the rest of your web pages the same way and save them in your personal folder in HTML format. Name them with appropriate and descriptive names.
On the Start page create links to the rest of your pages.
Create a link back to the Start page on all pages except the Start.
Save all your changes and exit Word.
Start the Internet Explorer web browser. Go to File/Open and use the Browse button to navigate to your personal folder located inside the WebUpdates network folder. Select your Start.htm web page. The page should be displayed in the browser. Test your links.
You may go back to Word and re-open your web pages at any time for further additions, corrections, etc.
Note: Due to limitations of the HTML format, some of the formatting of your Word document might be lost when saved in HTML.
