Middle School Volunteer Application

ATHLETIC BOOSTERS - The major volunteer support group for all Chaminade athletic activities.

BAND PARENTS COMMITTEE – Work at student concerts, on and off campus, as well as special events. Assist with weekly bagel sales that benefit the band program.

CHAMINADE FUND COMMITTEE – Assist in collecting contributions to the Chaminade Fund, which provides for costs of school programs in the current year.  Chairman is a member of the Board of Directors.

COMMUNITY SERVICE – Assist with various collections and service activities during the year.

DROP ZONE/LOST & FOUND – Catalog lost items, supervise backpack/large item storage area.

FASHION SHOW – Chaminade’s largest fundraiser of the year. Solicit prizes/auction items, prepare program, coordinate publicity, sell tickets, handle reservations, work with students in fashion show & dance routines, assemble auction baskets, videotape show, lighting/electrical work, computer work and more.

FINE ARTS PROJECTS AND EVENTS - Help with props & equipment, construction & maintenance, sew costumes.  Teachers aids for quarter classes performances, chaperones, drivers and telephone committee.

FOOD DRIVE – Assist in the collection and delivery of food to non-profit organizations.

GENERAL CLERICAL HELP – Typing, filing and mailings, as needed by the school office or other Chaminade offices.  Assist the office in doing outside errands. This work may occasionally be done at home.

GIFT WRAP SALE – Fundraiser in early fall.  Coordinate student sales, tally and distribute gift wrap.  Proceeds from this effort support classroom projects and special purchases.

GOLF TOURNAMENT -  Register guests, solicit auction items, assemble auction baskets. Proceeds from this effort support student financial aid.

HEALTH OFFICE – Handle minor illnesses, cuts and bruises.  Assist personnel with attendance follow up and phone calls. Two hour increments each week/month. 

HOMEROOM PARENTS - Assist your child’s homeroom teacher with various activities such as field trips, class parties and special events.

HOSPITALITY -  Prepare refreshments for special events, greet guests.  Great way to meet others!

KEYBOARDING CLASS – Assist with sixth grade keyboarding lab.  Includes setting up lab and record keeping.  No experience required.  Volunteer needed every DAY 4 during lunch. Assist  teacher during class to make certain students' eyes are on the screen while typing, taking attendance, etc.  One day per six-day cycle. Assist with classroom routine, student flow, and sorting of student typing forms at the end of class.

LIBRARY - Assist with the cataloging and shelving of books, periodicals and other library resources, assist with student projects and book fair, prepare materials for research information instruction.  One day per week.

LUNCHTIME SUPERVISION (RANGERS) - Assist during lunchtime in supervising students.

MAILINGS - Assist with school mailings, making copies, stuffing envelopes, attaching labels, etc.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION - The primary parent support group for Chaminade. Oversees major fundraisers.

PHONATHON – Phone fellow parents on behalf of the Chaminade Fund, which provides for school programs in the current year.

SCIENCE LAB ASSISTANTS - Help set up and take down labs.

SIXTH GRADE INTERNATIONAL FAIRE – Assisting teachers with set up, music and parade.

STUDENT STORE - Stocking and selling snacks and drinks after school.

SUBSTITUE TEACHER – Conducting class when teacher is not present.  Degree required.

TEAM PARENTS - Assist in coordinating transportation for away games.  Provide refreshments.

TYPING/WORD PROCESSING – Assist front office and faculty with typing/word processing.

UNIFORM SALES – Assist in weekly uniform sale after school, or help with occasional used uniform sales.
