High School Volunteer Application

Administrative/Staff Assistant
Assist a member of the administration or staff on a regular basis.

Arts
You may be helping to build sets, hang an art show, pull together the yearbook or any of the many activities associated with operating a marching band.  These may be activities in which your own child participates, or for which you have a special love.  Either way, we need you!

Athletic Boosters
The major volunteer support for all athletic activities at Chaminade

Book Sales
Assisting with bagging, collecting money and sale of textbooks at the beginning of the school year.

Campus Ministry Committee
Assist the Campus Ministry/Retreat Program with the 9^th Grade Retreat and other vital services.

Community Relations Representative
Work in conjunction with the Office of Advancement as a representative of Chaminade at community and school events.  Meet and communicate with Chaminade families and members of the community to increase our visibility, positive image, and community involvement.  

Fashion Show
Collecting prizes, preparing program, coordinating publicity, over-seeing ticket sales, handling reservations, and other activities to support the Parents Association’s high visibility, top level main fund-raising event in aid of the Annual Fund. Proceeds in 2005 exceeded $300,000…a real boost to Chaminade!

General Clerical Help
Assisting with general office help such as typing, filing and mailings, as needed by the school office or other Chaminade offices.  This work may occasionally be done at home.

Golf Tournament
Help with various tasks for the annual golf tournament in the fall.  Proceeds support student financial aid.

Hospitality
Work with the Parents Association in coordinating refreshments for school events and activities. 

KNAD-FM
A play-by-play live sports radio broadcast of home sporting events.  If you have a professional connection in the radio business, this might be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.

Library
Assisting with the cataloging and shelving of books, periodicals and other library resources, assisting with student projects and book fair, preparing materials for research information instruction.

Magazine Sale
Assist Parents Association with fundraising effort of selling magazine subscriptions.  Proceeds support classroom projects and special purchases.

Mailings
Assist the Advancement and School Offices as needed with the preparation of mailings.

Mock Trial
Founded 11 years ago by Hon. Maureen Duffy-Lewis, judge of L.A. Superior Court and alumni parent, John Miller.  This club competes in L.A. County Mock Trial competition. Faculty, lawyers and judges make up current volunteers.

Phonathon
Gather with other volunteers to make calls to parents on behalf of the Chaminade Fund.

Phone Tree
Participate in a phone network to inform parents of school activities, opportunities and events.

Post Prom Party
Collecting prizes, donations and coordinating all activities for Post Prom Party to keep our kids safe and entertained after spring Prom.

Science Fair
Assisting in the preparation and judging for science fairs

Sports Activities
Various services to help the coaches and Athletic Director with the numerous tasks associated with the sports programs.  These may be activities in which your child participates or simply those for which you have a special love.

Student Store
Wrap bagels and supervise students as they sell snacks during the morning break. 

Typing/Word Processing
Helping administrative and school offices to do this important work.

Used Book Buy-Back
Assisting with school Buy-Back of used books at the end of the school year
