Sacramental Preparation:
Rite of Christian Initiation for Children
The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the
Eucharistic sacrifice and the Sacraments. There are seven
Sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist,
Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and
Matrimony. The Sacraments are efficacious signs of grace,
instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which
divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the
Sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces
proper to each Sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive
them with the required dispositions (Catechism of the
Catholic Church, #1131).
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults/Children (RCIA/RCIC)
is a process by which young people are initiated into the Roman
Catholic faith. It is open to 6th, 7th,
and 8th graders, both baptized and non-baptized who
have not yet received the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and
Eucharist.
Chaminade College Preparatory, in partnership with St. John
Eudes Parish, offers this preparation process for students and
families who are interested. Students meet once a week on
campus during their Religion classes for special instruction,
and on Sunday mornings during the 9:00am Mass at St. John Eudes
Parish, located in Chatsworth.
If either you or your student is interested in enrolling or
learning more about the RCIA/RCIC process, please contact Sr.
Noreen Arnold, Director of RCIA at (818) 363-8127 ext. 580.
