definition is: approximate, chance, random. An example of the
word used in a sentence is: Both computers had similar features;
eventually, I made an arbitrary decision about which computer to
buy.
And About This Friday……
Please be aware that there was a change in the calendar and this
Friday, May 2, is a full day of school. It is a regular
schedule, and a Day 1.
Emergency Food Need…Can You Help?
Chaminade’s President, Mr. Jim Adam, requests that the Chaminade
Family again show the generous spirit we are so famous for and
assist our Campus Ministry in supplying food to the needy
families of Los Angeles. The types of food needed are: tuna
fish, peanut butter, canned foods, boxes of powdered milk, etc.,
etc.. Bring your donations to Campus Ministry, this week only,
April 29th thru May 4th, from 7:30-8:00am,
and, 3:00-3:30pm. As an added blessing, Community Service Hours
will be given…10 items = 1 hour, 20 items = 2hours. ( this is
the maximum).
Important Reminder for NJHS Members
Scholarship applications are due today, Wednesday, April 30 at 3
PM. The completed packet should be turned in to either Mrs.
Chespak in rm. 301 or the front office. Additional applications
are available in the front office.
Would You Like to Be One of Next Year’s Student Council
Officers?
Application packets for 2008-2009 Student Council officer are
available NOW in the front office. The packet includes the
application, dates and deadlines, and all you need to know about
running for office. Current 6th and 7th
graders who have a “B” average and are in good disciplinary
standing may run for any of the six offices; however, only
current 7th graders can run for president.
Applications must be completed and turned in to Mrs. Russ or
Mrs. Jacoby by Wednesday, May 7th. Please note that
these applications are only if you’d like to be an officer;
applications for Student Council representatives will be
available in the beginning of next school year.
Annual Typing Contest
Our Annual Typing Contest is almost here, coming next week,
Tuesday, May 6 through Thursday, May 8, during lunch in the
Computer Lab. This year’s theme is “The TypeFather… a Contest
You Can’t Refuse!” The triple team competition will be Tuesday,
May 6, the double team competition will be Wednesday, May 7, and
the singles competition, the one that determines the best typist
in the school, will be Thursday, May 8. Sixth graders compete
against other 6th graders, seventh graders compete
against other 7th graders, and 8th graders
the same. Come and be a part of this annual tradition and you
might just be one of our winners! See you in the Computer Lab
at lunch, Rm. 204, Tues., May 6 through Thurs., May 8.
Listen Up 7th Graders!! ……Calling All Future WEB
Leaders
Attention all those 7th graders interested in joining
the largest group on campus. Anyone interested in becoming a
WEB leader for next year please join us in an informational
meeting at the first part of lunch Thursday, May 1st
in room 201 The WEB leaders are an important part of the
success of helping transition next years 6th grade
class into our Chaminade family. Please come to a short meeting
and pick up an application.
The Chaminade C-Notes Spring Concert
C-Notes will present their Spring Concert
this Saturday May 3 here at the middle school in the Delong
Center at 7:30pm. We hope you can join us and support our
C-Notes. If you wish to have a reserved seat please email
krohrs@chaminade.org. Thank
you for your continued support of our music program.

are still available in the front office, if you want In-N-Out
Burgers today is your last chance to place an order. There will
be other foods available and wonderful rides and games.
Remember it is this Sunday, May 4, beginning with Mass at 11:00,
games ending at 4:00pm

Hooray! Hooray! The First Of May!
Now that it is officially MAY, we can post the top Accelerated
Reader point earners for each literature class for the month of
April! 8th grade winners for Mrs. Horton and Ms.
Bachel’s classes are: Tiffany Conway, Ariana Grob, Elliott
Clarke, Wes Tiu, Andrea Duva, Sara Ramnath, and Galen King. 7th
grade winners for Ms. Gunther and Ms. Johnson’s classes are:

Morgan Rudner, and Rachael Frank. The 6th grade

Patch Earners For The Month Of April!
Due to so many students reading books and taking AR quizzes, we
don’t have enough room here to post all fifty-three patch
earners for the month of April! However, the list is posted on
the Library windows so that those deserving students may come
into the Library for their well-earned prize! Congratulations
to all of you who have earned a patch this month! You inspire
us!
