March 2005

Kathy King

Ms. Kathy King, the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Religion and Music teacher and Choral Director, has been with us at the Middle School since 2001.  Her extensive education and experience as a teacher, conductor, vocalist, guitarist, and harpist for over twenty years is a blessing to all our students.

Ms. King believes strongly in the value of music education and has been recognized on a number of occasions for her accomplishments as an educator.  Recently, Ms. King was honored on Tuesday, March 1st, at the Music Center Education Division’s 23rd Annual BRAVO Award Gala for demonstrating excellence in arts education.  Being one of numerous faculty who were nominated from the Los Angeles county area, she was the only music teacher to be awarded the Finalist distinction in the Specialist Teacher category this year.  We are so proud of Ms. King and her many accomplishments – and we are very grateful to have her as a member of our Chaminade Family!

Mary Clare Walker and Kristy Walker

Everyone at the Middle School would like to send a special thank you to our two long-term substitute teachers who graciously joined us for a number of months this year while two of our faculty members were on maternity leave.  Mrs. Mary Clare Walker substituted for Mrs. Lisa Leiknes’ English classes and Ms. Kristy Walker was here to teach our girls’ Physical Education program for Mrs. Jennifer Lilley.  The students were fortunate to have both of these experienced teachers join us for part of the year and everyone commented on how they fit right in.  Our heartfelt gratitude goes to both Walker teachers and we hope they know that in our hearts they will always be a part of our Chaminade Family!!!
