Sparrow Hawk Red by Ben Mikaelsen

Ricky, the main character, is a thirteen year old boy that lives in Arizona with his father Benito. Ricky always flies with his father every day on the Baby, their airplane. Ricky has to wait until he is fifteen to get his pilot’s license. It is against the law for Ricky to be flying at his age. He does not even have his permit yet. Benito used to work for the DEA. The DEA is a drug enforcement agency. The DEA checks if anyone has any drugs that are illegal or any weapons at the airports. They have a tracking device to spot anyone with weapons or any drugs.

Ricky’s mother had died three years ago. Ricky was very sad and wanted her back. When Benito was talking to the guys in the DEA, Ricky had found out that his mother was not killed in a car accident, but that someone had murdered her. The guys from the DEA asked if Benito could go to Mexico and steal the Sparrow Hawk Red. The Sparrow Hawk Red is an airplane they want to get. How are they going to cross the border and get the Sparrow Hawk? Will Ricky be the one to rescue it, or will Benito? Will Benito or Ricky even try to rescue it? Please tune in for more tomorrow.

I liked this book very much because Ben Mikaelsen enjoyed taking flying lessons, and his book is about airplanes. I also liked this book very much because you did not know what Ricky was going to do next. This book is also adventurous because Ricky had to go through many obstacles. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys adventure. This book was a pleasure to read.
