The book Sparrow Hawk Red is about a young twelve-year-old boy named Ricky who runs away to avenge his mother’s murder.  In order to do this he must complete the mission which was given to his father which his father refused to do.  He must steal back an airplane that was used to smuggle drugs from Mexico into the United States.  Once Ricky gets into Mexico, with nothing except the clothes on his body he meets a ratera, Soledad, who helps him survive the hunger and cold he faces. The question is, will Ricky survive the smugglers with their big guns and weapons?  Will he be able to fly the airplane or will he be just another innocent victim of the war against drugs?

I really liked this book because it keeps you on the edge of your seat.  There are so many questions at the end of each chapter that you just have to keep on going.  It is a really good book for whoever wants to see what life is like in Mexico.  I highly recommend this book for whoever loves to read realistic fiction and suspense books.
