A Place Called Ugly by Avi

He was in love with the house the instant he laid eyes on it. Owen, a regular kid, in high school loves going to his summer house, on a small peaceful island. If he could, he would never leave, until one day he got the bad news. Owen found out that they would be tearing down the "beautiful house." Owen couldn't let it happen, he wouldn't. He decides to camp out there, by himself, and try to stop them from tearing down an amazing place. During the story there is love, hatred, defeat, agony, and most of all the most surprising irony anyone can imagine. Read on to find out what happens to Owen and his "Place Called Ugly."

A place called ugly was one of the best books I have ever read. It allows you to actually feel what he was feeling during the crisis in his life. I loved when a certain someone and he had crushes on each other, and helped each other both through hard times. For this I would have to give this book a perfect 10. I do not think this book could get any better. This book is perfect for kids who love excitement, heartbreak, and irony. Overall, Avi's, "A Placed Called Ugly", is a perfect book.
