The Island of the Aunts by Eva Ibbotson

I would definitely recommend The Island of the Aunts for a fabulous fantasy book. This story is about three aunts who kidnap children to serve on their island. The aunts kidnap the children because they are old and they need someone to take care of the island after they are gone. The island has magical creatures on it and the creatures need care. 

The aunts kidnap three children: Lambert, Fabio, and Minette. Unfortunately, Lambert is not very useful and is rebellious. He has a cell phone and could call his father at any time which was dangerous because the reporters could come and the journalists and they could hurt the creatures. Meanwhile, Minette and Fabio worked. One day a giant whale-like creature who cleaned the ocean, the Kraken, came with his son to the island. That was also the day when Lambert found his cell phone.
