The Fellowship of the RIng by J.R.R. Tolkien
A continuation from The Hobbit, this book once again is able to depict many adventures but this time, it is about Frodo, a relative of Bilbo’s. Bilbo decides to go on a journey from the Shire because life was boring. He leaves his entire heritance to Frodo including the Ring. Not without a shuffle with Gandalf though did Bilbo give it up. After all, it was the powerful Ring. A Ring that should not be fooled around with. Now, Bilbo fooled around with it often and it was hard to give the ring to someone else. Gandalf, the wise old wizard knew something was up. After Bilbo left, he had Frodo cast the Ring into the little fire in the hobbit hole. Something was wrong! It did not melt. Nothing happened except for the old ancient writing on the ring. The words put into common language are:
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
It is the Ring! The Ring that rules them all in the darkness. Frodo then decides to go to Rivendell where within there will be a large council deciding what to do with the ring. After all, the enemy is on them; they almost snatched the ring already. The council decides that there will be a fellowship consisting of nine. Frodo the Ring bearer, Gandalf the Grey, Legolas the elf, Gimli the dwarf, Borimir heir to the lordship of Gondor, Aragorn the King of Gondor, and the trusty companions of Frodo, Sam Gamgee, Peregrin Took, and Meriadoc. Thus was the Fellowship of the Ring. Their dangerous journey is ahead of them. Will they survive and perhaps bring the Ring into the Cracks of Doom to annihilate the Ring? Will they become overpowered by the Power of the Ring and send themselves to destruction?
I fell in love with this book! It is so exciting! So many questions needed to be answered, I just had to keep on going! It is a great book for your imagination to run wild. The imagination of J.R.R. Tolkien is truly fascinating. If you read The Hobbit you should definitely read this book. After all, The Hobbit was just a prologue to the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings series. It just would not be right if you only read the prologue. If you have the seen movie, I am telling you the book is always better than the movie. This is because it allows your imagination to run as free as a wild mustang.
