Among the Brave by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Among the Brave is a book about courage, friendship, and trust.  A boy named Trey must save his friends from the terrible population police and finds himself in many situations where he has to take his knowledge and find courage inside him.  Trey finds important documents from the Grant’s house and has to deliver them to Mr. Talbot.  Trey soon finds out that Mr. Talbot is arrested by the population police because the population police has found out that Mr. Talbot has betrayed them, but the population police also arrests Trey’s friends.  While the population police is searching the house a boy in the population police finds Trey hiding and says “liber” which Trey figures out is Latin and says freedom which is the English version of liber.  The boy lets Trey live and Trey finds Mrs. Talbot hiding in an attic, but Mrs. Talbot soon leaves Trey.  Then, Trey meets Mark who is Luke Garner’s brother and goes off looking for Luke and their friends.  Mark is captured by the population police and the only way Trey can find out how to save Mark is by joining the horrid population police.  Will Trey find Mark and save him.  Will Trey and Mark save their friends?  What will happen to the important documents and will Mr. Talbot ever get them?  Read this magnificent book and find out.

I loved this book because this book is inspirational and is filled with action.  Trey has to find the courage inside of him and finds out that he has more courage that he can think of.  This book tells how even when things get tough you have to believe in yourself and your friends to get you through those tough situations.  Margaret Peterson Haddix’s books are so difficult for me to put down.  This is a wonderful book that shows you that you can overcome your deepest fears.
