Girls' and Boys' Varsity Basketball Triumphant Over Harvard-Westlake

On Wednesday night  Chaminade’s Girls’ Varsity basketball team snapped Harvard-Westlake’s league game winning streak with a 61-46 Mission League victory.
 
Chaminade’s Boys’ Varsity basketball team won Wednesday’s conference game with a 44-42 win over Harvard-Westlake.  Junior guard Jaron Martin nailed the three point game-winning shot with only four seconds left in the game. Read More

 

Boys Basketball: Chaminade holds off late Eastside Catholic rally, wins its own tourney

The Chaminade High boys' basketball team does not take kindly to strangers.

For the second consecutive year, the host Eagles won their own Chaminade Christmas Classic tournament on Thursday, but it was not easy after nearly blowing a 16-point second-half lead in a 57-50 championship victory over Eastside Catholic (Lake Washington, Wash.). Read More 

 

Mock Trial Takes 2nd in L.A. County

For the 4th time in 5 years, the Chaminade Middle School Mock Trial Team competed in the finals of the prestigious Los Angeles County competition. After six rounds against more than 40 public and private schools, the team took 2nd to eventual champion Jefferson Middle School. Read More

 

Eagle Engineering

In early December, 11 students and three teachers from Stevenage England spent the day with the Eagle Engineering team.  The students from Great Britain were in town to compete at the Los Angeles Regional VEX Tournament held at Cal State Northridge. Read More

 

Chaminade Takes On Arryo Grande in CIF Semi-Final

This Friday, December 2, the Chaminade Varsity football team travels 300 miles roundtrip to Arroyo Grande High school to take on the Eagles in the CIF-SS Western Division Semi-Finals.  The game is a re-match of last season’s semi-final, won by Arroyo Grande.  Currently, the Chaminade Eagles (10-2), under the direction of Ed Croson, are ranked No. 1 in the Western Division and No. 30 in the State. Boston Alumni Gathering

Brother Tom Fahy, Alumni Relations Manager Peggy Smith, and 13 Chaminade Alumni in the Boston area met at Kingston Station Restaurant for the "first-ever" Chaminade Boston Alumni Gathering!  The group gathered together and enjoyed food, drinks and had a great time as they caught-up and reminisced about the good old days at Chaminade College Preparatory. Titanic and Avatar Producer, Jon Landau, Visits Chaminade!

John Landau, Academy Award winning producer of two of the highest grossing box office films of all time, Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009), visited Chaminade’s West Hills campus to speak to film students. He shared clips from his projects, spoke about his experiences, and discussed how he got started as a producer in the film industry by working on small films.  Read more

Chaminade Close to Raising Curtain

Where Scouting and Robotics Meet

As times change, so do the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).  Earlier this year, they introduced a Robotics merit badge to their program.  In mid-October, Chaminade hosted a workshop which gave 75 boy scouts in the greater Los Angeles area a chance to earn this new badge. Read More

 

Homecoming for the Eagles

Chaminade celebrated its 2011 Homecoming with a win 31-6 win over Mission League opponent, St. Paul on Friday, October 14.  The win capped off a fun-filled week of Homecoming activities during which students competed in various competitions and participated in spirit dress days – instead of the usual uniform, picture a sea of tourists (it was a Moroccan themed week) or students clad in orange and blue. Spirit, Teamwork, and a Positive Approach Equals a Miraculous Comeback

We had a 21-3 lead at halftime.  Everything seemed perfect.  However, the second half started off with three penalties on our first four plays.  We didn’t score a point in the third quarter.  We missed tackles,  had a punt mishap, missed passes, missed blocks, and gave up 29 unanswered points. With slightly less than 4 minutes left we were down by 11 points and seemingly out of the game. This is when being a Chaminade student makes a difference. More

Today’s Lesson: the Video Game Industry

Chaminade welcomed alumnus Marc Merrill ’98 back to its West Hills campus on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 to speak to the Eagle Engineering robotics team.  Merrill is the president of online gaming publisher and developer, Riot Games.  Students in Eagle Engineering received tips from this industry expert on their marketable skills as they start thinking about colleges and careers.  Read more
 

P.J. Herrera: Chaminade minister of the O-line

P.J. Herrera is a very imposing figure at 6-1, 270 pounds. He's more than just a big dude. Frankly, he has an inviting personality. "Coach (Croson) and I will tell you he's kind of nice," said Chaminade quarterback Logan Scott.
